Post-Mounted Signs

Post-Mounted Signs

Post-mounted road signs are essential for controlling the flow of traffic on main roads, motorways, and car parks. They can be mounted to almost any size of pole or post using a universal fixing kit. Most post-mounted signage comes complete with channels on the rear, allowing fixings to be easily positioned and ensuring the sign stays firmly in place once installed. These signs most commonly feature RA2 reflectivity, ensuring that they can be seen in the dark by reflecting car headlamps.

About Post-Mounted Signs

We stock one of the most comprehensive selections of post-mounted road signs in the UK, this means we can get your road sign to you as quickly as the next working day. This allows you to complete your project sooner, without having to wait the “industry standard” 10+ days for a simple sign that is preventing project sign off.

All our post-mounted signs are available in road-grade materials and are CE-marked, meaning that they can be purchased by local councils and legally used on the UK’s road network. This also means that when used in car parks, your signage will last longer, be easier to see, and ensure that you have done your part to help drivers navigate your car park.

All our post-mounted signs come with rails on the rear. This allows you to use an array of different sign clip types to mount the signs securely in position. We also stock these clips and fixings, ensuring that you have everything you need when you come to install your signs.

Key Considerations When Buying Post-Mounted Road Signs

When buying your signs you need to take several factors into consideration to get the optimal performance, and also ensure that these high-quality signs are compliant when installed.

Reflectivity

There are several grades of reflectivity available, the most commonly used standard for road signage is R2/RA2. The exception to this is when signage is intended for HGVs and coaches which often require the use of reflective materials with different properties.

Backing Materials

The backing of these signs is most commonly Composite (a sandwich of plastic and aluminium) but solid aluminium options are available.

Protective Films

Do you need specialist coatings on your sign, such as anti-graffiti coatings or anti-dew film? If so, please contact us.

Legality

Although these signs can be legally mounted on the road, you must have permission to install them. For example, a private individual would not be able to post mount new speed limit signage or directional signage unless agreed with the relevant government body.

Mounting Height

Ensure your post is tall enough to mount the size of sign you intend to use. This is especially important if you are mounting your sign near a cycle path or pavement to prevent pedestrian injury.

Size

Choose an appropriately sized sign for the speed of the traffic. A larger sign will be seen more easily from further away. The signage you see from your car window is almost always bigger than you expect when you get up close and measure it.

Rear Colour

Some areas require black backing on their signage and others require grey.
