  • About Column Protectors

Column protectors are specialised forms of protection designed to prevent damage to key structural elements of your building, such as columns and racking. By absorbing impacts from a range of vehicles like cars, forklifts, and pallet trucks (in various different ways depending on their material), column shock absorbers ensure that no significant long-term damage is done to structures. They also protect staff inside vehicles by absorbing shocks during impacts, ensuring your personnel are kept as safe as possible.

These protectors not only shield pillars in case of impact, but they are also designed to reduce the probability of these impacts in the first place. Available in bright colours like safety yellow, they are highly visible, helping to reduce the likelihood of collisions with vehicles or staff.

Specialised versions exist, too, such as corner column protectors and pillar edge protectors, which provide protection to the most vulnerable, key regions of the pillar.

    Traffic-Line Bolt Down Cage Protectors

    Removable Column Protection

Our large range of column protection and shock absorbers are amongst the more cost-effective pillar protection solutions, and they require no fixings in order to install. These protectors usually use velcro straps wrapped around them, encasing the pillar with a rigid, usually plastic, case. Quick and easy to install, our range of removable pillar protection requires no fixings, keeping labour costs as low as possible for protection that can be repositioned or removed as needed.

    Rubber Column Protectors

The most affordable shock absorbers on the market, rubber column protection features heavy-duty, high-impact resistance, flexibility, and durability. It absorbs shocks and prevents damage to both the columns and the vehicles in parking areas and warehouses.

    Circular Column Protectors

This form of protection is installed in two halves around a circular pillar and designed to fit snugly around it, providing comprehensive protection against abrasions and impacts.

    Column Edge and Corner Protection

Column edge protectors and column corner protectors offer targeted protection through to the more vulnerable areas of the pillar. Designed for use with square-based pillars, these shock absorbers prevent damage from collisions and general abrasive wear.

    Steel Column Protectors

Usually permanently bolted down or cast in, steel column protection delivers a solid and durable defence against heavier impacts, providing long-term protection to structural pillars of any shape in high-traffic, industrial environments.

Getting The Best Column Protection For Your Needs

Before choosing a safe column protector, consider the following factors to find the solutions best suited to you:

    Material & Impact Resistance

Choose between options like plastic, rubber, or steel, based on the level of impact resistance and durability required. Prioritise column guards with high impact resistance ratings that are suitable for the types of potential collisions or impacts typical in your environment.

    Fixing Method

Consider the environment in which your protector will be installed. What level of impact is it expected to receive during its lifetime, and how much available space does the column have around it?

    Maintenance

Consider how often and to what extent your protector will have to be maintained. How easy will it be to clean, and what likely forms of damage will it receive during its normal lifetime? If outdoors, how resistant is it to weather effects and corrosion?

    Column Size and Shape

Measure the dimensions and configuration of the columns that require protection, to ensure the protector can securely fit and effectively defend them.
