Tarmac Fixings

Tarmac Fixings

Effective tarmac fixings are a fundamental part of any road application installation. Speed bumps, bollards, bike stands, and other street furniture all typically require tarmac fixings to ensure they stand the test of time. Heavy duty tarmac fixings feature an oversized plug to distribute forces, as well as a hot-dip galvanised finish for increased longevity. When it comes to speed bump installations, our universal heavy duty tarmac and concrete fixing set is ideal in most cases. Remember, any tarmac fixing is only as strong as the tarmac itself.

  • About Tarmac Fixings

Tarmac fixings are essential for a long-lasting, secure hold when anchoring a product into tarmac. When installing street furniture, speed bumps, bollards, or posts, using tarmac bolts that are optimised for road applications isn't just recommended—it's essential. Ensure you know the material you're drilling into, as tarmac and concrete require distinct, specialised fixings.

Tarmac fixings come in a wide range of styles and materials for different use cases. From installing items like speed bumps that see a lot of movement into the road, to fixing fence posts to tarmac pavements, the fixings required will have different features in order to better carry out specific tasks. From rubber nuts to rebar spikes, from fixing posts into tarmac to anchoring benches to pavements, you’re sure to find what you need in our comprehensive range of fixings for tarmac.

The key function of any tarmac anchor bolt is to hold an item in place over long periods of time, without getting loose or working its way out, so it’s important to choose the right style and size.

    Universal Concrete and Tarmac Fixing

    Universal Concrete and Tarmac Fixing
This fixing is designed to be used in both concrete or tarmac, removing your need to purchase distinct, specialised products for each material. This can cut down on cost, time and mistakes as only one type of fixing is needed for most jobs!

    Rubber Rawlnut Tarmac Fixing

Rubber fixings are ideal for distributing the load as evenly as possible onto irregular or weak surfaces such as tarmac, where traditional shield-type fixings may cause the material to break up. The rubber design can mould into the shape of most holes, and is designed to absorb vibrations and resist corrosion—perfect for roads with high salinity.

Key Considerations When Buying Tarmac Fixing Bolts

Before choosing the best fixings for tarmac in your specific environment, consider the following factors to ensure they meet your functional needs:

    Strength of Fixing

How deep is your tarmac? The fixing is only as strong as the tarmac, so a thin layer of tarmac may not be strong enough to hold your product, even if you have the strongest fixing bolts. In loose or crumbly tarmac, use a larger fixing (such as the well nut or universal fixing) to distribute the load evenly over a larger area.

    Finish

Will your fixing see specific forms of wear and tear? Consider a fixing that resists this, such as rubber fixings for areas that see lots of vibrations (such as busy roads or delivery bays) or a galvanised finish for an extra long lifetime in spaces that see a lot of corrosion.

    Plugs

Does your fixing need a plug? Sometimes, a plug will determine the type of material your fixing can be used in. Be sure to check the material you are fixing into and determine if a plug is necessary.

    Washer

Will you need a washer? Some of your bolts have washers built into their heads, to distribute the load over the whole head; applying less pressure to the drill hole, whilst others do not. Consider whether a washer is necessary when choosing your bolts.
