Road Barriers

Road Barriers

To keep drivers safe, it is often essential to deploy road barriers; these barriers help drivers safely navigate around temporary works, ensuring lanes are clearly delineated, which is why they often get the name delineation barriers. Many of these road barriers also have alternative use cases, including for use at events, airports, and theme parks, where they can be used to segregate parking areas or change the traffic flow of an area due to seasonal demands.

  • About Road Barriers

Our road barriers come in a range of sizes and designs to suit a variety of applications, from delineating traffic to separating vehicle and pedestrian foot traffic. They ensure your site operates as safely as possible while you focus on getting the job done.

Most of our roadwork barriers are made from plastic, allowing you to transport large numbers of them on a single transport vehicle without hitting weight limits. Being made from plastic, they are also less likely to be stolen for scrap metal, are non-conductive, which reduces the risk of electric shocks and are incredibly robust.

These road construction barriers are most commonly seen during road works; outside of this, they can be found in use in many other locations, including prominent civil engineering projects such as HS2 or as part of traffic management at festivals. Water-filled variants are especially useful for this application, where they can be used to create clear lanes or parking areas with defined boundaries.

Key Factors To Consider When Purchasing Road Safety Barriers

Here are some of the key considerations that you need to make when looking to buy our road barriers for sale. Keeping these points in mind whilst making your purchase will help ensure you get the best value for money and a product that does the job you need.

    Traffic Type

What type of traffic will the road barriers predominantly see? Will it be pedestrian traffic, car traffic, HGV traffic or a mixture? Choose a barrier that accommodates all these requirements to ensure that everyone in the space is safe.

    Visibility—

Do you need a road barrier with high-visibility markings? These are most commonly used when deployed along roadsides, helping vehicles clearly distinguish the barrier in low-light conditions.

    Height

How tall does your barrier need to be? Does it need to prevent pedestrians from jumping over it, and does it need to be tall enough to be seen by HGV drivers?

    Trip Risks

If pedestrians will be in the area adjacent to the barrier, be sure to choose a barrier with a non-trip foot.

    Lifting Equipment

Do you have lifting equipment on site? Although not necessary with many modern barriers, it is ideal for speeding up the deployment process.

    Transportation

Consider how you will transport your barriers. Do you need something that can be deployed without lifting equipment?

    Compatibility

Do you have an existing stock of road barriers? If so, be sure to choose a product that can interconnect and is compatible with your existing equipment.

    Compliance

Do you need your barriers to be Chapter 8 compliant?
