Overbanding Tape

Overbanding Tape

During road repairs and reinstatement works, overbanding tape is a vital asset. The tape provides a skid resistant, waterproof finish that will protect pothole repairs and ultimately prolong their lifespan. Overbanding tape can also be used to create anti-slip bands on concrete surfaces. This includes in pedestrian areas where increased traction can improve safety, such as stairs and wheelchair access ramps. Course glass aggregate throughout the overbanding tape ensures that there is skid resistant even after extended use and wear.

  • About Overbanding Tape

Overbanding tape is a general term for specialised sealing tapes designed to prevent water ingress after reinstatement work has been carried out on either roadways or paths.

When used to repair straight cracks, asphalt overbanding tape extends the lifespan of roads and paths by preventing damage from environmental factors such as moisture, dirt, and temperature fluctuations, specifically freeze-thaw. Overbanding seams helps maintain the integrity of the project, reducing the need for regular repairs and thus saving time and money in the long term.

Tarmac banding tape shouldn’t require any specialised tools other than a gas torch, this makes it a convenient option for less experienced installers as well as professionals.

Key Considerations When Buying Overbanding Tape?

    Hapas Approval

Does your project need a HAPAS-approved product? If the material is to be installed on a public highway or pathway, this will likely be the case.

    Skid Resistance

Do you need a skid-resistant material? If so, look for a product with grit or crushed glass embedded in it.

    Composition

Choose between bitumen overbanding tape and thermoplastic overbanding tape materials. Each is easy to work with, applied the same way, and can be used in similar conditions.
