Vehicle wheel stoppers are a fantastic way to improve safety in parking areas for cars, vans, buses and lorries. They can be used to help drivers judge the size of a parking bay, ensuring they don't hit the vehicle or infrastructure behind the bay. They can also be used to ensure larger vehicles park within the confines of a parking bay, which is often why they are installed in distribution centres for use by HGV traffic. A more modern application is their installation in front of EV charging points, ensuring that expensive infrastructure is protected from vehicle impacts.

Wheel stoppers are different from wheel chocks in that they are permanently installed and are bolted to the ground.

What are Rubber Tyre Stoppers used for?

Tyre stoppers for cars are to stop cars from driving forward (or backwards) into high kerbs, buildings or other vehicles. They prevent the vehicle “overshooting” the parking bay and make parking faster and easier for the driver.

When used for trucks and coaches they are used to assist with the proper alignment of the vehicle, or as a reversing aid. With larger vehicles it is often harder to determine where the rear wheels of a vehicle are, by using stops drives can feel the rear wheels make contact resulting in improved safety.

What are our wheel stops made from?

Our wheel stops are predominantly made from recycled rubber tyres. This has two benefits, it uses recycled materials, and it also is as “soft” as the tyres that contacts it, ensuring the stopper does not cause premature tyre wear. Should a car or vehicle that is lower than anticipated park at the space it is also less likely to result in any damage if it contacts the front spoiler.

How Are These Stops Installed?

Installation varies depending on what type of material you are attaching the wheel stop to. We include options to choose the correct fixing type dependant on the material you are attaching the stop to on each product page.

Wheel stops should be laid out on the floor before fixing, ensuring they are the correct distance from any nearby obstacles. This distance will vary depending on the type of vehicle being arrested by the stops.

Car Wheel Stops

With two kinds available we offer a comprehensive selection car parking stops. These include GNR 1800mm long wheel stops, and our own 1000mm long wheel stops. Both are made from recycled rubber and are therefore exceptionally durable.

Truck Wheel Stops

These are taller and assist all types of trucks from HGV’s to 7.5-tonne rigid trucks with parking. They are ideal for use in parking areas at distribution centres and loading bays helping the driver judge the position of the rear of the vehicle. They are not, however, an alternative to proper chocking during loading.

Coach Wheel Stops

Used to help coaches accurately align into parking bays at coach parks or depots. These stops again assist the driver with manoeuvring the vehicle especially when reversing.
