TexBand Tape is an easy to use preformed overbanding tape. Use TexBand during road repairs and reinstatement works. Hapas / BBA approval means TexBand is suitable for use on the UK road network for overbanding applications.
Installing TexBand could not be easier, the installation process requires only minimal preparation and a propane heat gun.
TexBand is suitable for repairing cracks, seems and joints up to 5mm in width. Once in place, it will provide a skid resistant, waterproof finish that will prolong the lifespan of the repair.
Each roll of TexBand contains 5 metres of material. The roll is 35mm wide. Course glass aggregate is present throughout the entirety of the material, ensuring that even when the top surface has worn away the banding still has good skid resistance.
The great thing about TexBand overbanding tape is that it’s relatively simple to install, using only a gas torch to ensure a seamless application. However, correct preparation of the install area is key. Follow the steps below to ensure a durable repair.
Step 1: Clean - Remove all debris, dust and dirt. The area should also have no chemicals or oils present as this will impact the adhesion to the surface.
Step 2: Preheat - Use a gas torch to heat up the area and dry out any moisture that is present.
Step 3: Application - carefully unroll the TexBand tape over the seam, crack or joint that is being sealed. The crack or seem should be as central to the tape as possible for best performance.
Step 4: Melt - Use the gas torch once more to heat the tape up using a sweeping action. Keep the flame head around 20-40cm away from the road surface to prevent over-heating. Continue until the tape starts to bubble and flow into the contours of the road.
Step 5: Cool & Test - After 5-10 minutes the overbanding tape should be set and fully hardened. To test the durability try lifting an edge of the tape if it is possible to do so repeat step four.
Use TexBand overbanding tape to create anti-slip bands on concrete surfaces, even those in pedestrian areas. When applied to wheelchair access ramps and concrete stairs TexBand provides improved traction for pedestrians.
TexBand, unlike other overbanding, can be used on concrete surfaces as well as tarmac surfaces.
