Occupational Footwear

Occupational Footwear

Occupational shoes, also known as duty shoes or shop shoes, provide professional-grade protection and comfort for workers in industries that need resistances and protections, but don't require toecaps. They always feature a slip resistant sole, and prioritise ratings like waterproofing and electrostatic discharge protection, meeting EN ISO 20347 standards. Occupational shoes do not include reinforced toe caps (like safety shoes do), making them ideal for roles where toe caps aren't necessary but other protections are needed, like for cleaners, technicians, and workers in static-sensitive environments.

  • About Occupational Footwear

Occupational footwear provides professional-grade protection and comfort without toe caps, making it distinct from traditional safety shoes. Even without toe protection, these shoes are still built to meet high workplace safety standards, adhering to similar EN ISO ratings for simplicity. With features like slip resistance, waterproofing, and ESD (electrostatic discharge) properties, occupational footwear is designed for environments where specialised protection is needed, but heavy-duty toe caps are unnecessary.

Designed for a whole range of professions, occupational work shoes are commonly used by cleaners, technicians, and workers in environments requiring reliable slip resistance, waterproofing, and static protection.

    ESD Shoes

Designed to be worn in environments where electrostatic discharge is a concern, ESD (electrostatic dissipative shoes) prevent the build-up of static energy. ESD occupational shoes do this without the need for protective toecaps (which can add weight to the shoe and be uncomfortable after long periods of time), and are perfect for use in electronics manufacturing or in laboratories.

    Work Clogs

These non slip shoes offer the convenience of quick, slip on comfort at work. Perfect for kitchens, hospitals, and other indoor work environments, they are a favourite among pros like chefs, healthcare workers, and cleaners, as they often include features like cushioned insoles and breathable uppers for more comfort during long shifts. Clogs with anti-static or waterproof properties are also available for environments that demand more safety features.

    Everyday Work Shoes

Our occupational work shoes include everyday shoes and trainers for men and women, designed for both work and casual wear. The range features running trainers, lightweight walking boots, and sandals, all equipped with basic EN20347 occupational safety shoe protection like slip resistance, plus extra features like heat or cold insulation and ESD protection. These shoes offer the comfort of home footwear with the improved protection and capabilities of workwear standards, making them a better choice than your regular trainers.

Getting The Best Occupational Footwear For Your Needs

Before finding the best occupational footwear for your needs, consider the following factors:

    Workplace Hazards

Identify the specific hazards you will need protection from in your work environment. For wet areas, SRC slip resistance and WR or WRU waterproofing is needed, for mechanics, look for fuel and oil resistance, and for electronics work, ESD-rated shoes are a must.

    Slip Resistance

Evaluate the level of slip resistance you'll need for your job. Although all occupational shoes offer some level of slip resistance, is a simple SR occupational shoe all that is needed, or does this need to be upgraded to SRA, SRB or SRC? Is additional fuel and oil protection necessary?

    Fit

Since occupational work shoes are often worn for long periods of time, over the course of the whole work day, choose a pair that offer a snug, comfortable fit to your feet, with cushioning and arch support.

    Maintenance

Consider shoes made from materials that are easy to clean and maintain, especially for jobs and environments that are very exposed to dirt, chemicals, or water.
