Low-Flying Aircrafts Road Post Mounted Sign - Dia 558 R2/RA2 (Face Only)
The airplane above road sign diagram 558 warns of low-flying aircrafts such as commercial jets or gliders. Its use is for roads around the vicinity of airfields as road users may be caught off guard by their appearance or sudden noise. If low-flying helicopters are to be expected, 558.1 is required.
Where gliders are taking off and landing, the ‘Gliders’ supplementary plate should be used. The use of ‘For’ and a distance is recommended as the positioning of the sign should be sited further back than the standard distance, otherwise, a plane could be virtually overhead before the driver sees a sign. If wig-wag signals are installed to control traffic movement during take-off or landing, signs to diagram 558 and 773 should be the standard distance from the stop line (The standard siting distances can be found in Appendix A of the Traffic Signs Manual, Chapter 4).
This sign is available to order from 450mm to 1500mm, if you can't see the size you want then contact our sales team and we can arrange it for you.
