CO₂ Fire Extinguishers
CO2 extinguishers are designed for putting out Class B fires. These include electrical equipment such as computers or live cables, and some flammable liquids such as petrol, diesel, and paint (but not oil and grease).
How do they work? These extinguishers are filled with liquid carbon dioxide, which turns into CO2 gas when you release the pressure by squeezing the handle. This gas replaces the oxygen that’s feeding the fire, stopping it from burning..
Carbon dioxide gas doesn’t leave any mess behind, and doesn’t damage your equipment. A CO2 fire extinguisher will always have its name displayed on a black-coloured label, along with a black horn-shaped nozzle.
