Tunnel Ahead Post Mounted Sign - Dia 529.1 R2/RA2 (Face Only)
The tunnel sign is to warn drivers of a tunnel approaching on the road they are travelling on. You will see this sign positioned at the appropriate distance before a tunnel, the warning sign is designed to alert drivers of the changes in driving conditions.
If the sign is controlled by wig-wag signals, then a 'STOP when lights show' diagram 773 should be used. Otherwise, this sign may be used with "Distance Ahead", a directional arrow, or "Oncoming vehicles in middle of road".
The Road Tunnel Safety Regulations 2007 require that a tunnel’s length should be indicated on a sign at the entrance to the tunnel. This should be done using a non-prescribed variant of diagram 2401 or 2928.
This diagram comes from 450mm to 1500mm. Refer to the Traffic Signs Manual for specifics on when alternative sizing is needed if you are unsure, or contact our sales team.
