Designed for ‘Project Gigabit’, the LowPro 100 fibre optic trench cover is a 1m long narrow trench cover designed to cover narrow trenches up to 100mm wide. These trenches are required when running new fibre optic cables along pavements. The cover serves two purposes, it prevents slips and trips when crossing the channel, whilst also protecting any pre-laid cable within the trench.
Project Gigabit is a £5bn government plan to provide superfast broadband to residential homes and businesses in the UK. To achieve the goals set out in Project Gigabit, thousands of metres of fibre optic cable need to be laid in often busy areas. Oxford Plastics have designed the perfect trench cover for this purpose. It allows vehicles and pedestrians to cross safely without the risk of damaging vehicles or degrading the clean-cut edges of the micro-trench sidewalls used for fibre optic installations.
Made from recycled plastics, the LowPro 100 boasts a sleek low profile design with high visibility panels allowing it to be seen by pedestrians. The flexible nature of this narrow trench cover means it can bend around corners where needed. Each 100mm long section has a male and female connecting end that can be secured together with a single fastening making one long continuous trench cover.
The upper surface of the LowPro 100 is covered in raised bumps for improved traction, this is especially important when used in high footfall areas. The underside of the trench cover hunkers down into the trench, ensuring that once deployed it stays in place with an anti-slide finish.
A single M6 button head screw and a nyloc locknut at one end allows multiple units to be quickly and easily connected into one continuous length. This makes deployment and disassembly quick, easy and very efficient whilst keeping the installation secure.
Each LowPro 100 cover features three high traction vibrant yellow panels positioned along the centre of each trench cover. These increase the visibility of the trench covers further reducing the chances of slips, trips and falls making ongoing installations safe, especially those that cross driveways.
Like many of the Oxford Plastics products, this cover is made from recycled plastic, and at the end of its useful life, it can be fully recycled. The recycled material is not just better for the environment, it grips to asphalt to minimise any movement of the trench cover under the stress of foot and vehicle traffic.

Modular heavy-duty road plates capable of withstanding up to 44 tonnes over a 700mm trench. Suitable for use with HGV’s.
A rectangular trench cover with reinforcing bars allows this cover to withstand up to 400kg.
