EVOLIS Vision Solar Powered Speed Sign With Data Logging VAS SID

The Evolis Vision is a quality radar-activated speed sign perfect for country villages and city roads alike. It has data logging and features a prominent display that shows the vehicle's speed in green if it is at or under the speed limit. Should the approaching vehicle exceed the speed limit, the Vision displays its speed in red and flashes either a “sad "face" or an exclamation mark to inform the driver that it is speeding. A secondary message displays below the sign stating “THANK YOU” or "SLOW DOWN”, depending on the vehicle's speed — this message can be customised.

Our most popular configuration for this product is the solar mobile variant, which comes with two large batteries (safely housed in the back of the sign) and a separate solar panel. This allows the sign to operate indefinitely without charging.

The Evolis is designed from the ground up to be easy to use. You can access data logging locally by Bluetooth or USB to the sign, or with the 4G module (sold separately), you can access the information from the sign from any computer, IOS or Android mobile with internet access. Should you want to evaluate the impact the sign is having, you can enable “spy mode", which turns off the display but continues data logging in the background, giving you a clear indication of the impact of the sign.

Lower message display can be configured to show any message with up to 8 letters full height (6”) or two lines of text up to 16 letters per line half height (3”).

The sign has a simple control panel on the back that lets you quickly adjust the speed limit setting to match where the sign is deployed.

A tough ABS resin housing and anti-UV treated polycarbonate lens shield the Evolis from the elements, allowing it to stand the test of time even in harsh, exposed environments.

Easy Installation

Supplied with a mounting bracket that allows the sign and solar panel (if selected) to be mounted onto existing sign posts or lamp posts (recommended 89mm diameter 3.5m tall, allowing for a minimum of 2m ground clearance).

Choice of Power Options

Can be purchased with a solar panel, with batteries only (requiring you to charge them periodically) or mains powered (requires installation by an electrician and a power source). This gives ultimate flexibility to suit all installation locations.

What is the maximum cable length?

We do not recommend or support cable lengths of greater than 3.6m

How is the solar panel connected?

The solar panel has male and female socketed leads that join with same from the radar. Additional extension leads of 1.2m are available (optional)

How long do the batteries last with solar?

It is designed to run 365 days a year with the solar panel connected and reasonable exposure to the sun.

What batteries does it use?

It uses Yuasa REC22-12I 12 Volt, 22Ah lead-acid batteries (LxWxH 181x76.2x167mm), 6.2kg

How long do the included batteries last from fully charged, without solar?

With 10000 vehicles a day, it will last approximately 10 days

Can you mount or connect more than one solar panel?

No

How much clearance does the solar panel need?

The solar system has been designed with poor conditions in mind, however we recommend a good, clear view of the sky. We cannot guarantee it will be power-independent if it is sheltered or does not get any direct sunlight.

Which direction should the solar panel face?

We recommend it to be tilted in the South direction

Does it consume more energy with more traffic?

Yes, a lot of the energy used is illuminating the sign, so more cars passing will consume more energy.

How do you download the data?

All units come with Bluetooth connectivity. By downloading the App for Apple and Android devices, you are able to connect via Bluetooth and download the data.

What benefit do I get from installing the 4G module?

The 4G module allows you to access the data and configuration features of the device remotely.

Is the App available for Android and Apple devices?

Yes, there is an App for Apple devices (iOS / App store) and Android devices (Play Store)

Can I add 4G connectivity later?

Yes, this can be installed by the user

Is the data lost if the battery goes flat?

No - There is a separate battery to keep the memory persistent, this lasts for 8+ years.

Can the ‘sad face’ AND ‘exclamation mark warning’ be on the same unit?

No, these are distinct models / separate products.

What colours can the display show?

The speed can be shown in green, amber or red. The exclamation mark or sad face can be shown in red. The text area below is always shown in orange.

What text can the display below show?

This can display any text of your choosing (8 or 16 letters depending on size)

What is the slowest speed that it can be set to trigger on?

10mph is the lowest we recommend setting it. Below this leaves, rain and other moving items in heavy wind can trigger it.

Does it detect and log vehicles coming towards it and going away from it?

Yes, it logs two way vehicle data.

Is everything included in the kit that is required?

Yes, everything is included for a standard installation, excluding the post.

Can I move the sign from location to location?

Yes, you can buy an additional mounting bar set that allows you to simply unmount and move it to another post easily. Alternatively we offer a tripod that can be used to mount it in a more temporary way.

What is the recommended post size?

We recommend an 89mm post diameter, with a length of 3.5m above ground. Other post sizes can be used, but different clamping bands may be required.

What height should the sign be mounted at?

The bottom of the sign should be at least 2m above ground level.
