    Key Considerations When Buying Waterproof Salopettes

    Choosing the right waterproof salopettes for your needs can be daunting if you have never purchased them before, to help you along we have made a note of the key points and features to keep in mind when making your purchase.

    ARC FR

    Do you work around high voltage electrical infrastructure where ARC clothing is needed that is flame retardant and arc flash resistant? If so, Look for IEC 61482, EN1149 and EN114612 markings on your clothing.

    Colour

    If you are after railway hi-vis salopettes, ensure you choose an orange pair compliant with RIS 3279, which permits their use on railway infrastructure.

    Visibility

    Ensure you get the right grade of visibility in line with EN ISO 20471. Most of these salopettes will be Class 2, which is the most common requirement.

    EN 343 Rating

    Make sure your chosen salopettes have an EN 343 rating, this indicates that they have been tested for their waterproof performance. Two digits, such as 4:4 follow the EN 343 standard; this shows that it achieved a water resistance of 4 anda breathability rating of 4, the higher the number the better the performance.
