    When working in extreme conditions such as those found on dockyards or on oil rigs, there is only one dependable way to keep your legs dry outside of staying inside or wearing waterproof overalls, and that is the use of waterproof work salopettes. 

    Salopette waterproof trousers shield the legs and stomach from the worst the weather can throw at you. Straps over the shoulders ensure that the front and rear do not drop, preventing unwanted drafts and water incursions. When worn over normal thermals or workwear, you can work in comfort and warmth without fear of getting wet. 

    The very best from this range are waterproof and breathable due to their EN 343 rating, so you can have confidence that even perspiration from inside the clothing can escape.     Key Considerations When Buying Waterproof Salopettes

    Choosing the right waterproof salopettes for your needs can be daunting if you have never purchased them before, to help you along we have made a note of the key points and features to keep in mind when making your purchase.

    ARC FR

    Do you work around high voltage electrical infrastructure where ARC clothing is needed that is flame retardant and arc flash resistant? If so, Look for IEC 61482, EN1149 and EN114612 markings on your clothing.

    Colour

    If you are after railway hi-vis salopettes, ensure you choose an orange pair compliant with RIS 3279, which permits their use on railway infrastructure.

    Visibility

    Ensure you get the right grade of visibility in line with EN ISO 20471. Most of these salopettes will be Class 2, which is the most common requirement.

    EN 343 Rating

    Make sure your chosen salopettes have an EN 343 rating, this indicates that they have been tested for their waterproof performance. Two digits, such as 4:4 follow the EN 343 standard; this shows that it achieved a water resistance of 4 anda breathability rating of 4, the higher the number the better the performance.
