  • About Hi Vis Salopettes

Do you work in an industry where you are constantly exposed to the elements? You will be well aware that there is almost no replacement for a quality pair of hi-vis salopettes, especially hi-vis waterproof salopettes that can shield you from the worst of what the weather has to throw at you.

These quality leg covers not only increase your visibility on site and make it safer for you to move around and carry out your work, but they also ensure you can work comfortably without your legs soaking through when the heavens open and the wind blows hard. Over-shoulder straps prevent the salopettes from lowering, meaning in roles where you are bending, you won't end up with unexpected drafty areas or water ingress.

With shoulder straps and a high front covering, these leg coverings outperform many over trousers by preventing water from entering from above. For this reason, they are seen in some of the harshest industries, such as dock work, oil extraction, and marine engineering, where excessive water and limited visibility are just part of the job.

Getting The Best High Visibility Salopettes For Your Needs

Your working environment will often dictate the best type of salopette for your needs, with this in mind we have put together some common features and considerations that you should make when making your purchase.

    Visibility

Ensure you get the right grade of visibility in line with EN ISO 20471. Most of these salopettes will be Class 2, which is the most common requirement.

    Colour

If you are after railway hi-vis salopettes, ensure you choose an orange pair compliant with RIS 3279, which permits their use on railway infrastructure.

    Waterproofing

Make sure your chosen pair are compliant with EN 343, ensuring that it has a waterproof rating. This standard is followed by two further digits, such as 3:3, indicating the waterproofing and breathability; the higher the numbers, the better.

    ARC FR

Do you work around high voltage electrical infrastructure where ARC clothing is needed that is flame retardant and arc flash resistant? If so, Look for IEC 61482, EN1149 and EN114612 markings on your clothing.
