About
Straight Shank Drill Bits
Straight or smooth-shank drill bits are the traditional choice for use in a conventional drill chuck. They have a rounded shank all the way through to the base of the bit, as opposed to the hexagonal shank on a hex, or specialist SDS fitting on an SDS or SDS+ drill.
These drill bits come in a range of styles, from those suited to drilling wood through to those for drilling plastic, metal, brick, and even tile. They are ultra-compatible and come in a range of sizes to suit most common applications. It is for this reason that you will find them in a range of settings, from a mechanics workshop to a machine shop and a DIY toolbox.
