Linesman Hard Hats

Linesman Hard Hats

Linesman hard hats feature chin straps and are almost always electrically insulated. This is because the linesman role is almost exclusively carried out around high-power infrastructure on the rail network and power grid. All our helmets in this range are BS EN compliant and permitted for use on UK construction sites as part of a proper PPE deployment.

About Linesman Hard Hats

Linesmen (and women!) spend most of their time working on high-voltage cables at height, repairing critical power infrastructure after storms, or installing new cables where needed. With the dangers of working at height and around high power lines, proper PPE is essential.

Our range of linesman helmets comes with several key features that make them suitable for use when working with the dangers linespersons face daily. These features include:

  • Chin straps to prevent the helmet from falling off in an accident or fall
  • Electrical insulation to meet EN 50365 Class 0 10KV (non-vented versions only)
  • Low-profile peak for improved upward vision - essential when climbing or looking up at a colleague
  • The ability to withstand impacts from above, in line with EN 397.

These helmets are available in a range of colours to denote specific roles and statuses on site, from visitors all the way through to supervisors.

Features and considerations when buying a linesman safety helmet

Helmet comfort

JSP Evo Revolution 6-point Harness

If you spend long hours wearing your head protection, comfort is a crucial consideration. Many of our helmets feature a six-point fabric harness system for uncompromising comfort. You should also consider a wheel ratchet adjuster for its more advanced adjustment capability.

Helmet weight

Hard Hat On Scales

A lightweight helmet will be beneficial if you do a lot of climbing and working at height. Those from the EvoLite range have a shell weight of only 300g (model dependent).

Electrical resistance

Safety Helmet With Electrical Resistance

If you're working around live electrical cables, you may want to consider a helmet that complies with EN50365. These are almost all manufactured without vents.

Sweatband

A removable sweatband is an essential feature of a quality linesman helmet. They improve hygiene and prevent sweat from running down the face from above. Many of our helmets feature a quality chamlon sweatband.

Chin strap

Evolite Skyworker Helmet With 4-point Chin Straps

A chin strap with a precise fit will prevent your helmet coming off in an accident - even if you are fully inverted. Depending on your working environment, you may need a "breakaway" or an "unbreakable" chinstrap.

Eye protection

Evospec Helmet Integrated Safety Spectacles

Eye protection is not always necessary, but if it is, you should ensure that your chosen helmet comes with either integrated eyewear or is at least compatible with it should you wish to incorporate it in the future.
