Because these vests are designed to be lightweight, they’re ideal for wearing over the top of something like an arc flash jumper or long-sleeved T-shirt when you feel the need for an additional layer but don’t want the bulk of a full jacket. 

You can also wear a hi-vis arc flash vest over dark-coloured arc flash clothing to ensure you’re fully visible when working in low light conditions. A regular hi-vis vest isn’t safe for working on high-voltage equipment - even if your other clothing is arc flash-rated - as the vest’s fabric would melt in the event of a plasma blast.
