This friendly looking turtle marking is another great playground marking that can be used to encourage play and learning of number skills. Children can use any small throwable object (we recommend bean bags) to try and hit the highest scoring segment of the tile. To introduce addition skills more than one beanbag can be used per player so scores have to be added up.
This marking is made from pre-cut thermoplastic material, that is ultra hard-wearing and easily installed. The thermoplastic material used is the same product used on many roads, it holds its colour and has anti-slip properties.
Alternatives to this friendly turtle target include our simple circle target game, our coloured target game, and our full dartboard target. Each game is a great way of teaching children to play together and use their imagination. Require something a little more educational? See our full range of playground markings here.
Applying our playground markings is very easy. Firstly the area must be cleaned of all loose debris, oil, grease and salts. Once this is done you are ready to get going. If your chosen surface is old tarmac, concrete or block paving then you will need to use our fast-drying primer.
Once you have fully prepped the surface the marking can be set out. Once you are happy with the marking positioning a gas burner can be used to melt the marking to the tarmac surface. For additional traction glass bead can be sprinkled over the surface, this is fused into the marking with the further application of heat.
It is important to ensure that the whole marking is melted fully to the point that it looks like cheese on toast and follows the contours of the substrate beneath. Failure to do this may mean the marking will lift. Once heated the marking cannot be re-heated as it will have oxidised and set.
Thermoplastic on block paving is known to be more difficult to apply and has a substantially shorter lifetime than on bituminous surfaces, such as tarmac.
Block paving is not a solid structure. Most of the time, they are put down and sand is added into the grooves, so over time when moisture creeps in as well as moss, movement can be made within 2 blocks, making the material crack and fail.
Fun for all ages, these classic games are how here in marking form!
