3m™ Primer 94 for Sign Channel Tape

The VHB™ Tape Primer should be used as a primer whenever you are working with VHB tape. This is the case when you are using 3m VHB 5952F tape to attach sign channels to sign faces. The primer will ensure optimal adhesion and durability on various surfaces such as powder-coated aluminium, bare metal, glass, woods and plastics. This primer is a genuine 3m™ product.

Where To Use It?

We primarily use the primer to attach sign channels and sign faces together. The primer ensures the tape will stick to the surface. This primer will add to the versatility of the 3m™ VHB™ 5952F tape by allowing it to work on various hard-to-stick surfaces. We highly recommend that you use the primer when working with any of the following materials:

  • PE, PP, ABS, PET/PBT blends
  • Porous materials such as concrete and wood
  • Glass
  • Bare metal
  • Painted metals

Primer Application:

  • Clean the area - Use our wipes or a 50:50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water.
  • Apply a thin uniform coating - You will need around one litre per 14.7m² or 1.3ml per 1m channel. Shake the bottle well before applying.
  • Allow to dry - Make sure the primer is completely dry. It will take around five minutes at room temperature
  • Porous surfaces - Materials such as wood and bricks, might need a second application. Allow the first coat to dry entirely before re-applying.
  • Apply tape - You can now apply the 3m™ tape.
  • Storage - Keep the primer tightly sealed in its original container. It will retain its performance for 18 months after manufacturing.

The primer can be removed with acetone and some effort. Testing the product before applying it to the final product is recommended.
