The 1 Mile Marker supplementary sign is used to warn drivers that road works will be commencing 1 mile away. They are usually placed below a Men at Work sign diagram 7001.
Most frequently used on slower speed roads. For guidance on how and where this sign should be deployed please see the chapter 8 traffic signs manual.
Be sure to get the right size of sign for your requirements. There are four key elements to consider, which is the size of the sign face, the reflectivity grade, and the mounting hole spacing of the sign faces.
RA1 - Advance Engineer Grade Prismatic, suitable for street works and slower speed limits.
Class 2 R2 / RA2 / HIP - High-intensity Prismatic, Suitable for high-speed roadworks on motorways, national speed limits.
These should match the sign frames that you already have, or are intending to buy. Some of our signs will come with both sets of holes drilled.
The size of the sign face that you need will be dictated by the guidelines in the Chapter 8 guidelines.
Smaller sizes of signs are available on a 3mm plastic backing board. Larger sizes are fixed to a more rigid GRP backing board. GRP signs are fitted with eyelets for extra strength. If you need Composite or Dibond sign faces please call us.
If you need any assistance finding the right sized sign or frame then please give our customer service team a call on 01905 794 875. We have many other ranges of signs available including Q-signs, “classic” metal sign faces, and permanent signs.
