About
Skip Lights
Government legislation mandates that skips are lit during the hours of darkness, but local councils have additional rules for skip warning lights. Most will only permit amber lights, as this is the standard colour for lighting temporary hazards and avoids confusion with red tail lights on vehicles.
Skips must also have reflective marking plates at each end, and be marked with the owner’s name and phone number of the owner. If you don’t meet the conditions of your skip license (issued by the local council), including rules for lighting, you could be fined up to £1,000.
Skip lights are very easy to fit, as they clamp onto the lifting hook on the skip. Many products are designed to be tamper-resistant, thanks to anti-tamper bolts supplied with the skip light, and some are encased in a metal housing for extra durability.
The battery-powered lamps are typically equipped with sensors, so they automatically come on when it gets dark and turn themselves off at sunrise. This prolongs battery life significantly - we offer skip lamps that will last for up to 4000 hours.
