  • About Cut-Resistant Gloves

Cut-resistant work gloves are an essential form of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), designed to protect hands when working with sharp objects in a hazardous work environment. They offer resistance to cuts, tears, punctures, and abrasions.

In industries like construction, manufacturing, automotive repair, or food processing, where exposure to sharp edges and equipment is common, our hand-selected range of anti-cut gloves offers reliable protection without compromising on dexterity or comfort - no matter how long into a shift.

By choosing gloves with appropriate cut resistance levels, tailored to the specific hazards of your work environment, you can effectively reduce the risk of hand injuries among your workforce.

Our wide range of gloves allows you to complement this with other specialised forms of hand protection, such as water resistance or thermal resistance, ensuring optimal protection based on your individual needs.

    Types of cut-resistant gloves

Impact-resistant: Cut-resistant gloves that have also passed the glove impact test EN 13594:2015 provide protection against both cuts and impacts. The impact test assesses the glove's ability to protect against hazards such as blunt force trauma or impacts from objects.

Wrist protection: These cut-resistant gauntlets have cuffs that extend past the hand, extending their protection to the wrists and sometimes forearms. They are great in combination with cut-resistant sleeves or long-sleeved jackets.

High dexterity: These gloves provide cut resistance while maintaining good dexterity and movement in the hands and fingers. Cut-resistant gloves vary in thickness, including thinner, more dexterous gloves made from specialised materials.

Extreme cut-resistant: The highest-rated (level 4 and level 5) cut-resistant gloves on the market, with maximum protection against abrasions, cuts, tears, and punctures. These knife-proof gloves have passed the new EN 388 2016 coupe test by dulling the blade and also scored highly on the cut resistance (TDM) test method.

Cut-resistant glove liners: Designed to be worn under disposable gloves or other waterproof gloves for increased cut protection.

Cut-resistant sleeves: Designed to be worn on the arm to provide cut resistance where slash-proof gloves won't normally reach.

    Cut Resistant Dexterity

What makes a good cut-resistant glove?

Consider these key factors when choosing the best cut-rated gloves for you:

    Grip

Always consider a cut-resistant glove's grip when evaluating its suitability for the task at hand. Better grip reduces the risk of mistakes, accidents, and cuts.

    Breathability

While clammy hands won't affect a glove's grip or cut rating, they can shorten the amount of time a worker is willing to wear them. This may increase the risk of cuts in the long run if workers remove their gloves to let their hands breathe.

    Dexterity

Just like grip, maintaining high dexterity in your cut- and puncture-resistant gloves reduces the risk of accidents by allowing better hand movement and interaction with your environment.

    Cut resistance level

Safety gloves that achieve high scores on both the coupe test (assessing abrasion, cut, tear, and puncture) and the TDM cut test (measuring cut resistance in newtons and impact protection) are indisputably better-performing gloves.

    Certifications

Many lower-quality products on the market may claim to be cut-proof gloves without having undergone any standardised tests for verification. Always ensure your gloves have passed both EN388 cut standards and the additional ISO 13997:1999 test for reliable protection.

    Materials

Consider any potential allergies or sensitivities you may have to common glove materials. For individuals with latex allergies for example, non-latex alternatives like nitrile anti-cut gloves should be chosen.
