  • About Waterproof Work Jackets

When the weather turns bad and the heavens open, a waterproof work jacket is the critical element that can make the day bearable and the rain less of a problem. This range is designed for people working in exposed locations, such as road works, docks, at sea, and wind farms, where there is no shelter and the job needs to get done rain or shine.

Our rain jackets and waterproof work coats come in a variety of styles, from super lightweight overcoats to heavy-duty insulated winter jackets. Look out for EN standard 343, which indicates that this garment has passed rigorous water resistance and breathability testing. Storm flaps and hoods are common features of this range, shielding zips, faces, and eyes from the driving rain.

We only stock and ship waterproof jackets from trusted, quality brands, so you can focus on getting the job done, without worrying about getting wet.

Key Considerations When Purchasing Waterproof Jackets For Work

Before choosing heavy-duty waterproof work jackets, consider the following points to ensure you get the best work jacket for your environment and needs:

    Waterproofing EN 343

EN343 has a highest rating of 4:4 (4 for waterproofing, 4 for breathability). Typically, higher waterproofing reduces breathability, so finding the right balance is key to staying dry from both rain and sweat.

    Taped Seams

The overlapping of seams when stitched together is important. The more overlap, the better the seam will resist water

    Brands

Look for reputable workwear brands and suppliers, so that you know you are getting authentic, high-quality products. We pride ourselves in only stocking quality workwear from manufacturers you can trust.

    Size

Different manufacturers may calculate their sizing differently, meaning the same person might be a small in one brand but a medium in another. Check a products size guide (available on the product's page) for more precise measurements.

    Weight

Wearing heavier jackets during the workday can restrict movement. Consider also that thicker jackets can become cumbersome during strenuous labour, causing the wearer to overheat. Wearing several thin layers is often better than just one thick layer.

    Thermal Insulation

If you're expecting the work jacket to be worn during winter, at night or generally in cold weather, we recommend choosing a jacket for work that is thermally insulated.

    Colour & Logo

Does your workwear need to be a certain colour to conform with your company or industry colours? Much of our workwear can be personalised with a logo, crest, and colour!

    Hi Vis

Does your site require workwear to conform to EN ISO 20471 high visibility standards? Under these standards, workwear worn next to railway tracks must be high-vis orange.

    Hood

Depending on your environment and season, you may require a hood on your work jacket. Remember to consider your site's safety precautions when deciding if you need a hood!

    Pockets

Consider if you need extra pockets, tool loops or reinforcements to existing pockets.

    Removable Hoods

Not only does a removable hood allow you to react better to changes in the weather, they are incredibly important on rail sites and other areas where snagging your hood can be a hazard!
