The Avalon Barrier is one of the most popular brands of plastic road barrier sold in the UK. Manufactured by Oxford Plastics, the UK’s leading manufacturer of plastic traffic safety products; these expertly designed safety barriers are fully Chapter 8 compliant and lend themselves to a multitude of applications.
The barriers provide a unique solution for controlling large gatherings of people. This may be at an outdoor music concert or any event involving thousands of people. The linking design makes creating a safety barrier that is miles long easy. They can also be used in smaller scenarios such as work zones. Within work sites, it is equally important for the public to be kept at a safe distance from maintenance work.
The Avalon Barrier is our most popular stackable pedestrian barrier. It is also an important part of our line of chapter 8 barriers. This plastic barrier system is commonly used for road works, site works, events and exhibitions all over the country. The optimised design and construction makes the Avalon barrier easy to deploy, use, handle and store. This system is fully BS7818 compliant for pedestrian restraint systems.
The Avalon Chapter 8 Barrier features a ‘no-clip’ interlocking design. This delivers the dual benefit of making them both easy to deploy when fitting them together. It also ensures the barriers cannot easily come apart from each other.
The uni-body design is manufactured from a single piece of blow-molded HDPE. The only additional parts to the body are the feet. The feet swivel to reduce the space required for transport and storage. The feet can be quickly rotated during set up to stabilise the barrier when upright.
These features result in faster deployment times and provide peace of mind as there are no small parts and clips to loose. This offers a significant advantage when these barriers are being set up on a large scale. Further, the units can "double-lock" ensuring that they stay interlocked, improving overall safety for large crowd controlled areas.
Crafted through a blow-molding process that gives them their distinctive design, the Avalon Barrier is easy to store and transport.
They are easily stackable with interlocking notches on each end of the barrier, creating a compact, stable stack. This tight stack ultimately reduces the amount of space they take up when stored away for future use or when loaded onto a vehicle for transportation. A single pallet can hold up to 50 barriers stacked together.
Further, Avalon plastic barriers are incredibly lightweight, making them easy to lift and deploy even by a single worker; a single section with Clearpath feet weighs just 11Kg whilst sections with the Standard feet weigh as little as 9Kg.
The Avalon Plastic Barrier doesn’t compromise on its toughness and ability to withstand harsh conditions. The Avalon Barrier is made from High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). HDPE gives it hardiness to general wear and tear arising from everyday use. It is capable of withstanding both transport, set up and the knocks received from the public while deployed.
A single barrier can withstand wind gusts up to 17mph. Wind resistance can be significantly increased by joining multiple barriers together. There are also many ballast options available for the barrier to help keep them standing strong.
The HDPE material is UV stabilised protecting the barrier from ultraviolet degradation. This can be caused by long-term exposure to the sun. This UV resistance coupled with the durability of HDPE means even when these barriers are in use for long periods, they won’t become pale or brittle.
Avalon Barriers also feature a Chapter 8 compliant retro-reflective sticker that enables them to be seen in darkness and low light. This greatly increases their visibility to vehicles and pedestrians alike. Taken together, these key features result in a product ideally suited to continual, year-round use.
Avalon Barriers are available with two types of feet, the Clearpath and Standard foot. All feet are fully replaceable with a uniform design. The same design of spigots is used across all Avalon barriers. This means that you can easily swap feet types should you need to. It also ensures that damaged feet can be replaced easily when required.
We stock standard colours of the Avalon barrier fence including Blue and Orange. They are however available in custom colours to be manufactured according to your needs. This means the appearance of the barriers can altered with ease. This could be to complement your company's branding, theme an event or to communicate extra information. A minimum order of 200 barriers is required for custom colouring.
Take advantage of custom messaging for your pedestrian safety barriers. This messaging could be used to identify your company or communicate general safety information. The wording for these signs can be chosen by you and is placed on a 600x450mm sign. This sign is then affixed to the barrier after deployment improving safety or brand awareness.
Custom signage requires a minimum order of 100 pieces. Further, embossing your design with a raised area etched onto the barrier creates permanent, always visible signage. Custom embossing is available however it requires a minimum order of 500 barriers and a one-off tooling charge.
