Carters Shocksafe Sumo Post Hole Spade BS8020
This SUMO post-hole spade is one of the strongest spades on the market. With its arrow 140mm wide blade, this spade is perfect for digging post holes and narrow trenches. The extra long handle at 54” allows you to apply more force or dig deeper without bending awkwardly.
The SUMO range has shafts that have been tested to withstand up to 240kg of force on a BS3388 testing rig. This means that you can really depend on this spade when the digging gets tough. As this is a Shocksafe item, the handle is fully insulated from the blade, ensuring you are kept safe should you accidentally hit a live wire.
The head of this spade is produced from a single piece of forged steel. This means no welds to create weak points, making the blade just as tough and durable as the handle. At a total weight of only 4.5kg this post-hole spade is lightweight but very capable.

The blade has been forged and tested to withstand loads up to 95kgs, exceeding the requirements of BS3388.
Handle Bend Test
A solid fibreglass core encapsulated in a blended polypropylene outer shell make this handle able to withstand 750n in a bend test whilst also having great insulative properties.

The shovel head and handle weighs only 4.2kg, making it easy to work with all day with.
