Aquaflow PVC Solvent Weld For Potable Water Pipes

PVC cement glue (also known as solvent weld pvc) is designed to be used around the plastic found in pipework used for waste, sewerage, rainwater and potable water. It softens PVC, and melts the two surfaces together, allowing totally smooth surfaces to bind together. In these applications, not only does this product bind extremely well, but also can be used to fill in small gaps.

The Aquaflow PVC Solvent Weld is available in 2 sizes: 125ml and 250ml.

Key Features

  • Quick Drying - Expect your glue to dry within 30 minutes (depending on the temperature).
  • Waterproof - Designed to be used on piping that carries water
  • WRAS Approved - Water Regulations Advisory Scheme approved product.

Where Can I Use My PVC Cement?

We use this glue to attach pipes together, indoors or outdoors. This PVC pipe glue will be your best friend when you’re working on any kind of domestic PVC piping made to carry water:

  • Water Downpipes
  • Drainage Channels
  • Sewage

Boasting a WRAS approval, this product can be used on a large assortment of different pipes including those around potable water.

This PVC solvent weld has been designed specifically to function with PVC (PolyVinyl Chloride) piping around water. Take care if using this glue on a material you’re not familiar with, test it on a small area to ensure it has no adverse effects (like melting the plastic!) first.

Holding Pipe Waiting For Glue To Dry To Avoid Pushout

How Long Does PVC Glue Take To Dry?

It can take around 30 minutes for this glue to dry, but you should expect a maximum of 2 hours drying time (depending on the temperature) for a full cure. Please note that cooler temperatures will help the cement for PVC set more quickly.

Range Of PPE Perfect For Use With Solvents

What PPE Do I Need When Using PVC Cement?

Now you’re ready to get started, don't forget your PPE! Solvent fumes can be extremely dangerous so we’d recommend using a mask with an A2P3 filter like the Force 8 Half Mask With A2P3 Filters, to fully protect against fumes, as well as goggles and gloves.

How to Apply Solvent Weld

  1. Before you begin, make sure the pipe is cut cleanly and straight.
  2. If you have cut the pipe yourself, make sure to chamfer, debur and remove the dirt around your cut.
  3. Dry fit the pipe to check for interference (you should be able to cleanly slide the pipe into its fitting hub)
  4. Clean the pipe and fitting hub with PVC cleaner to improve primer results and to ensure a long-lasting solvent weld
  5. Apply primer inside the fitting hub and outside the pipe
  6. Liberally apply your PVC glue to the exterior of the pipe and the interior of the fitting hub
  7. Assemble the two parts by inserting the pipe into the fitting hub (twisting the pipe around ¼ of a full turn if you’re using a circular pipe), until the pipe reaches the back of the fitting hub.
    • Hold both pieces in place for around 30 secs to prevent pushout
  8. Wipe off excess cement
  9. Admire your work and smile contentedly
