Alusthetic PVC Threshold Drain With Corten Steel Grating T Connector
The Alusthetic Threshold Drain T Connector Unit in Corten steel is designed to be installed in a set with the Alusthetic Threshold Drain and Grate in Corten Steel. When connected to the rest of your Alusthetic drainage channel system, this T connector allows the channel to split into two directions, allowing greater drainage design scope, depending on how it has been attached to the rest of the system.
Use an Alusthetic bottom connector to connect this T unit to the rest of your drainage channel, and fix (or “glue”) it securely using a PVC solvent weld.
With a channel manufactured from extruded PVC, this T connector unit has a grating made from corten steel. With a vibrant orange grating, this design choice pairs well with certain architectural styles (like stone) and is visually unique.
When your Corten Steel first arrives, it might appear black because it hasn't had time to age in its new surroundings. During this ageing process (which could last up to around 2 weeks), the genuine Corten effect might rub off onto nearby materials, especially the porous ones, leaving behind a brown or orange stain. You can reduce this by regularly hosing down the area and letting the corten age a little before installation.
T Sections are also available with other grating materials for different use cases:
- Stainless Steel - is chlorine resistant and designed to be installed in indoor or outdoor chlorine rich areas like next to swimming pools, hot tubs or jacuzzis.
- Anodised aluminium - lightweight yet durable in nature, aluminium is a cost-effective, corrosion-resistant grating material.
Like the rest of the drainage system, the corner units (and T pieces) are all available with the same heel guard™ gratings, which are essential in the pedestrian environments that this collection is aimed for.
Please note: Each section of Alusthetic Threshold Drainage Channel should be connected using a channel connector which will also help to stabilise the channel during installation. Ends should be capped off using an end cap or outlet. We recommend using a PVC solvent weld to fuse your channels and connectors together. Although not essential (as your system will be slotted together using channel connectors), it can be useful to plug any gaps and ensure your channels are one seamless length of leak proof, water tight PVC.
The Alusthetic Threshold Drain Collection
Fully compliant and certified to load class standard A 15 BS EN 1433:2002, and compliant with Part M of the Building Regulations, the threshold drainage set is certified to withstand up to 15kN (approximately 1.5 tonnes) of force in soft ground and around 25kN in concrete. This makes it perfectly suited for light-duty internal and external applications such as skirting the base patios and garage thresholds or along pedestrian footpaths and bridleways.
Large volumes of drain water can be carried thanks to a discreet 65mm width and depth of 103mm. Each channel piece, is available in one-metre lengths, and we stock a full range of accessories, including bottom connectors, end caps, and corner units - allowing the installation of the whole system. Other accessories include the solvent weld, 50mm end outlets and 80mm bottom outlets.
