Try Your Brakes Post Mounted Sign - 554.1 R2/RA2 (Face Only)
This warning sign advises drivers to test their brakes as they may fade due to overheating or from still being wet. This is a safety precaution for areas where brakes may fail such as after deep water or before a steep decline.
The sign should be placed after a flooded piece of road or on the exit side of a ford usually on the back of the opposite-facing ‘Ford’ 554 or ‘Flood’ 554A sign using a back-to-back clip. The sign should also be installed with signs warning of steep hills and escape lanes.
The post-mounted diagram may also be supplemented with a plate to ‘keep in low gear’ to increase the effectiveness of braking and acceleration.
The sign is available from 600mm-1500mm, usually when in use with Fords a 600mm sign would be advisable with the larger sizes being more suited to use on hills.
