Sharp Bends Ahead Post Mounted Sign - 513 R2/RA2 (Face Only)
The ‘Double Bend Ahead’ diagram is designed for use where bends of similar severity follow each other. Diagram ‘Left' is for a first turn left, followed by another harsh turning right. Diagram ‘Right’ is the reverse. Be sure to pick the correct sign as using the opposite diagram can lead to accidents!
You will see this sign anywhere where two opposing harsh turns are in close proximity, such as single carriageways through country areas. Please refer to the TSRGD Traffic Guidelines, Chapter 4- pages 14 and 15 for a table describing the specific distances and speeds where this sign is appropriate.
It may be used above one of the following supplementary diagrams:
- Diagram 511- “Reduce Speed Now”
- Diagram 513.1- “Adverse Camber”
- Diagram 513.2- “Maximum Speed Advised”
- Diagram 526- “Keep In Low Gear”
- Diagram 570- “For 00 yds”
- Diagram 575- “Oncoming Vehicles In Middle Of The Road”
The double bend ahead sign comes in the standard warning sign size of 600mm. However, bigger sizes are needed corresponding to the speed of the junction and distance between the two bends. A table with these margins can be found on page 15 of the Traffic Signs Manual, Chapter 4. Our sales team are happy to assist you if this is the case.
