Bend Ahead Post Mounted Sign - Diagram 512 R2/RA2 (Face Only)
Diagram 512 is used to give warning of a harsh turning which a driver may find difficult to safely pass through without slowing down and where the severity of the turning isn't easily seen in any condition. There are two versions, 'Left’ shows a bend to the left and 'Right’ is for a bend to the right.
This sign should be used sparingly to only indicate a bend hazard. Overuse of this sign on the road may reduce its effectiveness. There is no objective test to say whether this sign should be used on a road so a subjective assessment should be used to decide. For further information on the conditions of usage, refer to the Traffic Signs Manual, Chapter 4- Page 14.
This sign can be used with a supplementary plate to indicate one of five messages:
- Diagram 511- “Reduce Speed Now”
- Diagram 513.1- “Adverse Camber”
- Diagram 513.2- “Maximum Speed Advised”
- Diagram 526- “Keep In Low Gear”
- Diagram 575- “Oncoming Vehicles In Middle Of The Road”
This warning sign comes in the standard sizing of 600mm, but other sizes are available to order. This may be necessary where there is limited space for the sign or there have been accidents due to the low visibility of the sign meaning a larger size is needed.
