  • About Waterproof Safety Boots & Shoes

On many worksites, keeping your feet safe means shielding them from impacts, sharp objects, and abrasions, as well as from the elements. In the UK, the largest issue anyone working outside will face is the rain. This is where our exceptional range of waterproof work shoes really shines.

These shoes feature a WR rating as part of their EN 20345 standard, meaning that the whole shoe is water-repellent as opposed to just the upper shoe, as seen on WRU water-repellent upper shoes. This means that they are able to keep your feet dry through a heavy downpour during a storm.

These waterproof boots, of course, also have all the standard safety features you would expect from safety footwear, including composite, aluminium, or steel toe caps to protect the toes. Many of these boots also include sole protection to prevent nails and other sharp objects from puncturing the sole of the shoe when trodden on.

Getting The Best Waterproof Safety Footwear For Your Needs

Choosing the best waterproof safety shoes can be daunting, especially if you have not purchased them before. For this reason, we have put together a key list of points to consider before making your purchase that will help you decide on the waterproof footwear that best suits your requirements.

    WR or WRU?

WR-rated footwear means the whole shoe is waterproof. This means that the shoe will hold off water for longer than WRU shoes, where only the upper is water-repellent. This makes WR boots and shoes more suited to long exposure to heavy rain and extreme conditions.

    Cold Insulation

If you work in cold environments, such as those seen in a winter dockyard, a CI-rated boot will ensure your feet are insulated from the cold surface you are standing on.

    Tread Pattern

Ensure you choose a shoe with the appropriate tread pattern for you to cross the terrain you are working on. Coarse deep treads will help displace mud and debris, allowing you to make quick progress, whereas finer, flatter treads are great for smooth indoor surfaces.

    Breathability

Upgrades like GORE-Tex and other breathable liners allow moisture, such as perspiration generated by your feet, to quickly escape and dry your feet.

    Hazards

Do you need to be protected from any specific hazards related to your working role, such as extreme heat from hot metal surfaces or magnetic fields that may require a metal-free boot?

    Maintenance

Some boots require routine maintenance, such as the application of sealants and waxes, to keep your safety shoes waterproof. This should be considered at the time of purchase.
