Shield Anchors

Shield Anchors

Shield anchors are an ideal fixing method for attaching almost anything to concrete or brickwork, one of the most popular applications we have for these fixings is the installation of Armco Barrier. These fixings feature an outer shield fitted around a central bolt which expands as the fixing is tightened, gripping the sides of the hole it is inserted into. We only deal with major brands with these fixings, so you have peace of mind that your fixings will stay put once in place.

  • About Shield Anchors

When fixing heavy loads to walls, ceilings and floors, a heavy-duty fixing is essential. Shield anchors are a type of expansion bolt designed to provide a strong and reliable hold in loose or crumbly materials like concrete, brick, and stone, especially for products that might see some vibration or movement. When installed, shield anchors expand against the edges of the hole, spreading the expansion force across the whole length of the shield and gripping the surrounding material tightly to provide incredible stability and load-bearing capacity - even in surfaces like brick that don't naturally provide much support.

Shield anchors are internally threaded, so once hammered into your pre-drilled hole, simply insert the bolt with the washer through the fixture and tighten it to the recommended torque to make the anchor expand and secure the fixture.

Many tradespeople prefer shield anchors over other fixings for many use cases because they are strong, heavier duty and durable. They are commonly used in structural applications, including securing heavy machinery, steel frameworks, shelving, and safety barriers.

    Single Expansion Shield Anchors

Single expansion shield anchors are ideal for medium to heavy-duty applications. They feature a single-piece design that expands upon tightening, providing a secure hold in solid materials. These anchors are suitable for fixing objects like handrails, brackets, and signs.

    Double Expansion Shield Anchors

Double expansion anchors provide even more stability by expanding at two points. This design ensures a stronger grip in brittle or uneven materials like concrete and brick, making them perfect for use cases that need even stronger anchoring, like when mounting large fixtures or machinery.
