Metal Free Safety Shoes

Metal-free safety shoes come in boots, shoes, wellies, and other styles suitable for use on-site, in a warehouse, or even in a commercial kitchen. Because they are metal-free, these safety shoes can be worn around metal detectors or other sensitive equipment without triggering false alarms or causing interference.

  • About Metal Free Safety Shoes

As part of our wide range of safety footwear, we stock and ship out metal-free safety boots and shoes that can go toe to toe with traditional protective footwear with features such as steel or aluminium toe caps.

Sometimes referred to as composite safety boots or composite safety shoes, these footwear items tend to be lighter in weight and, therefore, easier to wear throughout the day without feeling weighed down. The composite protective items mean that the shoe will generally be better balanced and more agile than alternatives, allowing you to move with greater freedom, speed and agility without feeling fatigued.

We work with many big brands that offer metal-free options for every budget point, ensuring you won't have to compromise on safety or features regardless of your budget.

Getting The Best Metal-Free Safety Shoes For Your Needs

With so many forms available, it is essential that you consider which type of metal-free safety footwear best suits your needs. For some roles, metal-free safety trainers will be a better fit than safety boots, etc. For this reason, we have put together a list of key points to consider when making your choice of metal-free footwear.

    WR or WRU?

WR-rated footwear means the whole shoe is waterproof. This means that the shoe will hold off water for longer than WRU shoes, where only the upper is water-repellent. This makes WR boots and shoes more suited to long exposure to heavy rain and extreme conditions.

    Cold Insulation

If you work in cold environments, such as those seen in a winter dockyard, a CI-rated boot will ensure your feet are insulated from the cold surface you are standing on.

    Tread Pattern

Ensure you choose a shoe with the appropriate tread pattern for you to cross the terrain you are working on. Coarse deep treads will help displace mud and debris, allowing you to make quick progress, whereas finer, flatter treads are great for smooth indoor surfaces.

    Breathability

Upgrades like GORE-Tex and other breathable liners allow moisture, such as perspiration generated by your feet, to quickly escape and dry your feet.

    Hazards

Do you need to be protected from any specific hazards related to your working role, such as extreme heat from hot metal surfaces or magnetic fields that may require a metal-free boot?

    Maintenance

Some boots require routine maintenance, such as the application of sealants and waxes, to keep your safety shoes waterproof. This should be considered at the time of purchase.
