Diagram 570 is the sign plate showing the distance the signed hazard will be on the road in yards or miles. The distance plate comes in multiples of 100 yards (100 yds, 200 yds, 300 yds, etc.), 50 yards (50 yds, 150 yds, 250 yds, etc.) or miles (1 mile, 2 Miles, etc.). The plate can read 'yards', 'yds', 'mile' or 'miles'. The Traffic Signs Manual recommends using these plates where possible to make sure drivers stay alert for the danger even when they have passed the sign.

The size (x-height) of this plate can be varied to suit the road it is being installed on. The size you need will depend on the size of your warning sign.
