When you need to add letters or numbers to a parking space in a car park then preformed thermoplastic road markings cannot be beaten. These preformed thermoplastic letters can be installed with minimum previous experience and with no specialist knowledge.
Unlike liquid paints which are applied with a draw box or stencils and are an art-form to apply, these thermoplastic markings can be installed in minutes. As they are all pre-cut you get clean, consistent permanent markings that can be trafficked within minutes of application.
The material is hard-wearing and pre-beaded making it retroreflective and skid resistant, perfect for areas that see both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. If you need to further increase the skid resistance of the markings we sell separately packed glass bead that can be added in addition to the bead embedded in the material.
So that our letters and numbers are suitable for use on major roads as well as car parks we sell them in a range of sizes. The smallest size we provide is 100mm tall, with the largest size being 1000mm (1 metre) tall. Please be aware that as the letters get larger they are stretched so that they can be read from further away.
Applying our StartMark thermoplastic is very easy. Firstly the area must be cleaned of all loose debris, oil, grease and salts. Once this is done you are ready to get going. If your road surface is old tarmac, concrete or block paving then you will need to use our fast-drying primer.
Once you have fully prepped the surface the wording or numbering can be set out. Once you are happy with the marking positioning a gas torch heat gun can be used to melt the marking to the road surface. For additional traction glass bead can be sprinkled over the surface, this is fused into the marking with the further application of heat.
Thermoplastic on block paving is known to be more difficult to apply and has a substantially shorter lifetime than on bituminous surfaces, such as tarmac.
Block paving is not a solid structure. Most of the time, they are put down and sand is added into the grooves, so over time when moisture creeps in as well as moss, movement can be made within 2 blocks, making the material crack and fail.
