Staggered Junction Ahead Post Mount Sign - Dia. 507.1 R2/RA2 (Face Only)
This sign warns drivers that a side road that is broken up joins and leaves the current road. Staggered junctions are also mean multiple lanes of traffic can join one road without being all in one place. There are 4 versions of this warning sign- 'Left' states the junction is joining from the left and leaves further up the road on the right, with the straight road having priority. 'Right' is the reverse, the junction joins from the right and leaves through the left. ‘Priority Left’ States the junction joins from the right, but the junction leaving on the left has right of way. 'Priority Right’ is is for traffic joining the left and giving priority on the exit on the right.
This sign is for use early on the priority road which the staggered junction passes through, allowing drivers to watch out for traffic pulling out. It can be plated here with the distance ahead the first junction is.
If the priority route is itself the staggered route through the junction, this diagram must not be used, but a map-type advance direction sign. In every other case, the two junctions must be signed individually with diagram 506.1, "Side Road Ahead". For further information on the regulations surrounding this sign’s installation, refer to page 11 of the TSRGD Guidelines, Chapter 4.
