When the traffic you are controlling comprises mostly of HGV’s and other larger vehicles then our HGV traffic control ramp is just what you need. Designed as part flow plate, part speed ramp this control ramp is ideal for enforcing one-way systems and slowing traffic simultaneously.
Surface mounted installation makes fitting quick, easy and simple to carry out. Although control ramp is primarily targeted at HGV’s and heavier traffic it is perfectly fine to use for cars too. The height of the ramp with teeth raised is 105mm so is suited to most cars unless they are exceptionally low.
The modular composition of this ramp makes it easy to build a control point across a roadway of almost any size.
Fixings (M12 throughbolts) are included with this product.
Contrasting Spring loaded steel teeth ensure that drivers can clearly see the teeth and ramps on approach and act as a visual deterrent to driving over the units in the wrong direction.
The steel in these HGV traffic control ramps has been designed to withstand constant and frequent HGV traffic. They are made from a very thick gauge of steel ensuring they can stand the test of time and traffic.
When the ramps do require servicing all spare parts are available including the springs that hold the teeth up. As these are surface mounted they will not fill up with water or require as much maintenance as sub-surface mounted plates.
Wherever there is a one-way system and heavy vehicles these ramps can be used, some of the most common applications are outlined below;
When placed at an exit only point these HGV control ramps deter vehicles from driving in through the exit, ensuring that all traffic passes the security checkpoint. The same applies for parking payment and control systems. They can be used for car-parks where vehicles may try to bypass payment gates.
As mentioned above if HGV’s or delivery vans use a site then these ramps will be the preferred option over the magnetic reset car plate. This is because the thicker steel used in these HGV plates is stronger and longer lasting.
Installation is easy simply requiring holes drilling for the ramps to be bolted down into. A full guide on this can be found in the downloads section of this page. In some installs where the tarmac is thin or very new, it may be necessary to install the ramps onto a concrete raft, details of this are again available in our installation guide.
We strongly recommend that these ramps are used in conjunction with no entry signs and warnings. Although these ramps and teeth are designed not to cause damage to vehicles if they are approached from the wrong direction there is a risk that damage can occur. No entry signs combined with “flow plates in use” signs will ensure that drivers get an adequate warning of the plates presence.
