Key Considerations When Purchasing Materials Handling Equipment
Power Source
Do you need something man-powered, moved by a forklift or a crane?
Terrain
If you are looking at a wheeled solution, is the floor that the unit is working across flat or rough? If so, ensure you choose something with a suitable wheel design.
Material
What material are you moving? A system for moving screed around the site will have very different requirements from a system for moving barriers.
Environment
Is the environment in which the system is being used considered hostile due to a high chance of corrosion? Therefore, it needs to be either plastic, stainless steel, or even food-safe.
Security
You need to consider who has access to the chosen system's contents. This is especially important for high-value items such as tools and copper pipe and cables.
Containment
If transporting barrels of lubricants or hazardous liquids around the site, do you need something bunded or double-skinned?
Access
Do you need to be able to move your chosen system through tight, narrow aisles or other restricted areas?
