First Traffic Cone In Space?
This summer we did something a little different from our normal routine of writing about traffic products. We ended up putting what we think may be the first traffic cone in space!
Why a traffic cone? And why space?
With Elon Musk recently sending a car into space, we will soon need to think about regulating car traffic in the stratosphere (well, maybe not that soon).
For that reason, the annual GISH scavenger hunt set a challenge to put a traffic cone or road sign into space.
Being somewhat familiar with traffic cones, we were well up for the challenge.
What is GISH?
Set up by actor Misha Collins, GISH stands for The Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen (formerly known as GISHWES). It's a worldwide scavenger hunt that sets creative and unusual challenges for participants, with points and prizes awarded to competitors and winners.
GISH has challenged people all over the world to create positive mayhem, raising millions of dollars for charities and amassing eight Guinness World Records.

How did we do it?
We partnered with a team called “Scrumtrulescent”, who are regular (and successful) competitors in the GISH scavenger hunt.
We used a courier called Sent Into Space, which specialises in launching products and brand advertising into space and capturing them with cutting-edge cameras.
Using a weather balloon, our full-sized traffic cone was launched from Gloucester. We got some great photos and even a video of (probably) the first traffic cone in space!
