Sign diagram number 953B states which types of vehicles are allowed access to the road ahead. This particular variant allows Buses, Cycles, Solo Motorcycles and Taxis only. These signs can be used for a wide range of reasons including relieving congestion, pollution and improving public safety. Where taxis should not use the road, "Buses, Push Bikes and Motorbikes Only" (953A) would be more appropriate.

The sign may have a supplementary plate to read ‘and authorised vehicles’ or the time periods the prohibition applies. You may use a "No Entry" sign to diagram 616 in replacement, fitted with exception plates for the respected vehicles. Time periods should not be used with the no entry sign so if there is a time period that the restriction does not apply then this diagram will be more appropriate.
