Watercourse Alongside Road Ahead Sign 555.1
The watercourse sign, labelled 555.1, shows drivers there is a deep water course alongside the length of the road, which would be damaging to the vehicle if fallen in to. This sign is especially important if the water isn’t easily visible due to vegetation, easy overflowing or general lack of distinction. Wherever the road edge is clear however, due to a kerb or safety fence, the sign is not necessary.
The sign is reversible with 'A' warning of water to the left and 'B' to the right. Alternatively, if there is a risk of vehicles parking along the watercourse- diagram 555 will be more appropriate.
This sign can be supplemented with a plate indicating “For’ and a distance in miles or yards.
